A) General

What does sulfate free means?

Sulfate Free means that our product does not contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS) as surfactants and cleansing agents. SLS & SLES are known skin irritant and may cause sensitization when used over a period of time. The molecular structure of SLS is small enough to allow it to penetrate to the lower layers of the skin where it is most irritating. They are used in a wide range of shampoos, bubble-baths, liquid soaps and toothpastes. Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS) is also used as a cleansing foaming agent but is less irritating to the skin.
Due to the potential risk of skin irritation, Sensenique Natural does not use SLES, SLS and ALS in any of our products.

What does Betaine Free means?

In our case, Betaine Free means that our product does not contain Cocamidopropyl Betaine & Coco Betaine as surfactants and foam booster. Health concerns around Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Coco Betaine include allergic contact dermatitis, skin irritation and environmental toxicity.
Due to the potential risks, Sensenique Natural does not use Cocamidopropyl Betaine & Coco Betaine in any of our products.

What does Silicone Free means?

Silicone Free means that we do not use silicone in our formulation. In the hair care industry, silicones help shampoos, conditioners and styling products to spread through your hair, resulting in smooth and shiny hair. Non-water-soluble silicones tend to build up, making hair look dirty and you may end up washing it more often than necessary. This vicious cycle will damage your strands, creating brittle, dry hair with split ends, flyaways and frizz.

What type of surfactants does Sensenique Natural use in the bodywash and shampoo?

In this premium blend, we use safe, toxin-free, gentle yet effective glucose, amino acids & fatty acids based surfactants. They are Decyl Glucoside (glucose based surfactant derived from coconut oil), Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, (amino acid based surfactant derived from coconut oil), Sodium Lauroamphoacetate (derived from coconut fruit and palm oil fruit) & Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (fatty acid based surfactants derived from coconut oil). They are known for their mild and anti-irritant properties and are especially suitable for products made for delicate skin and baby shampoos due to their gentle nature.

What does “made with 98% ingredients of natural origin” mean?

In our formulation, we use 98% ingredients of natural origin such as Argan oil, Olive oil, Jojoba seed oil, Macadamia seed oil, Ginger Root, Orange Peel, Peppermint and Lime pure essential oils, ECOCERT organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf juice , ECOCERT natural plant extracts, surfactants that are derived from natural sources such as coconut oil, coconut fruit and palm oil fruit. These ingredients are soothing, moisturizing and kind to skin and hair.

It is important to note that ingredients such as emulsifiers, solvents and some kind of preservative system is necessary for products like body wash, shampoos and conditioners that contain natural ingredients, plant extracts and infusions. Without them these products cannot be made, and they will not be effective.

What kind of fragrance does Sensenique Natural use in its products?

All Sensenique Natural products are scented with Pure Essential Oils.

Will I develop an allergy from using your products?

Every one of us is unique in our chemical and biological make- up. Some do develop allergy even with natural products and ingredients. We have used gentle, safe and toxin-free ingredients that will help minimize allergic reactions and sensitivities. If in doubt, best to try on small patch of skin. If no allergic reactions, then continue to use.

Does Sensenique Natural products contain Alcohol Denat?

Sensenique Natural products do not contain Alcohol Denat or any other forms of alcohol.
Alcohol denat is the same as ethanol or ethyl alcohol. It can cause dry skin and irritation. Besides, it enhances and helps increase the penetration of chemicals and pollutants through the skin.

Is this product safe to use during pregnancy?

Our products are made with ingredients that are non-toxic and safe.
The period during pregnancy tends to be most sensitive. Some women develop allergy only during pregnancy due to hormonal changes in the body. Best to consult physician before you start using. Customers can refer to the labels and our website for all the ingredients used in our products.

Are your products tested on animals?

We, at Sensenique Natural, are against cruelty to animals. Therefore, our products are not tested on animals.

Are your products suitable for Vegan?

Yes, our products are suitable for Vegan because we do not use animal fats or any ingredients of animal origin in our products.

How long can the products be kept ie expiry period?

They can keep well for 3 years. Store them in cool dry place. Since it is scented with Pure Essential Oils, the scent may dissipate over time and product may darken due to oxidation. However, these changes do not affect performance and quality of the products.

Why do Sensenique Natural use plastic packaging?

Sensenique Natural uses PET for its packaging. PET is globally recognized as a safe, recyclable packaging material. PET does not contain BPA, phthalates, dioxins, lead or cadmium.

There are 3 main reasons why we have chosen to use PET for our products:

REASON 1: 100% RECYCLABLE*
The latest recycling techniques and processes allow PET to be recycled many times. Recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET) can be used to make many new products, including fiber for polyester carpet; fabric for T-shirts, long underwear, athletic shoes, luggage, upholstery and sweaters; fiberfill for sleeping bags and winter coats; industrial strapping, sheet and film; automotive parts, such as luggage racks, headliners, fuse boxes, bumpers, grilles and door panels; and new PET containers for both food and non-food products.

REASON 2 : SUSTAINABILITY*
PET is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly packaging option. A recent Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) conducted by the Allied Development Corporation determined how the environmental footprint and greenhouse gas emissions of manufacturing and transporting PET relates to alternative forms of packaging. The first study found that in North America, PET is the most favorable alternative when compared to aluminum cans and glass bottles for a 355 ml carbonated soft drink application. When measuring greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption, PET containers had the best performance. These lightweight PET bottles require fewer raw materials to produce, less fuel for transport and are still completely recyclable.

Since our hair care and body care are used in the bath, the use of glass could be dangerous if dropped. PET bottles do not pose such safety risks.

B) Shampoo FAQS

What are the benefits of Sensenique Natural betaine, sulfate & silicone free shampoo?

Betaine & sulfate surfactants can be harsh and drying to hair and scalp. And silicone are known to clog up the pores. Free from these not so kind ingredients, Sensenique Natural shampoo gently cleanses and moisturizes your hair and scalp with its premium blend of gentle surfactants, Argan Oil, ECOCERT organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf juice and ECOCERT natural plant extracts. Overtime, this also allows your scalp to produce its own natural oil. Consistent usage will result in healthy hair and scalp.

What is the main difference between sulfate & betaine free shampoo and ordinary shampoo?

It does not lather up like your ordinary shampoo. But less lather does not mean it is not cleaning your hair, or that you need to use more shampoo than usual. Sensenique Natural hair care requires more water in your hair before you add in the shampoo.
You add more water to get a better wash – not more product like your regular shampoos. This means you are using less product to get good and effective cleansing.

How should hair feel after using Sensenique Natural hair care?

It can take from as early as 2-3 weeks to 1-2 months for your scalp to adjust when switching to a truly natural hair care. In the beginning, your hair may feel slightly dry and stiff. This is the adjustment period where it helps to detox the hair from all remaining chemical coating.
After this adjustment period, you will find that your hair is fuller and texture is more well-balanced. In the end, you will enjoy healthier hair and scalp.

How to use Betaine, Sulfate & Silicone FREE hair care properly?

• Thoroughly wet your hair before applying shampoo. If your hair isn’t completely soaked, it’s hard to apply the product and distribute it through your hair
• Apply more water, instead of more product. Use less product than you think. If you want more lather, apply more water instead of more product. The water will help activate the shampoo and spread it through your hair
• Shampoo twice . If your hair is thick or coarse, shampoo twice. The second shampoo lathers up more easily and helps clean thick or coarse hair better
• Rinse your hair thoroughly. Any residue will make your hair feel heavy
• Follow up with conditioner. Comb your conditioner through from mid lengths to ends (no need to condition your scalp, especially if you have fine or oily hair) and then rinse well
• Double conditioning – conditioner, shampoo, conditioner. If your hair is very thick, coarse or heavily treated ie intensely coloured hair, double conditioning will help manage hair better

Is it safe for daily use?

Yes, it is safe for daily use. What hair types is Sensenique Natural shampoo suitable for?

Sensenique Natural shampoo is suitable for all hair types, including color treated hair.
However, Ginger Orange shampoo is best for dry hair and scalp. Helps remove loose dandruff flakes. Helps relieve unusual hair fall.
Peppermint Lime shampoo helps control sebum on oily scalp and hair. Helps relieve unusual hair fall.

Is Sensenique Natural shampoo safe for children to use?

C) Conditioner FAQS

What are the benefits of Sensenique Natural silicone free hair conditioner?

Normal hair conditioner contains silicone to coat the hair and gives it the soft and silky feel. However, it also clog up the scalp. Over time, the unhealthy scalp weakens and is not able to hold the roots of hair, causing unusual hair fall.

Sensenique Natural conditioner is silicone free and does not clog up the scalp. It conditions and moisturizes the hair with its premium blend of ECOCERT plant extracts, Argan Oil, Olive Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil and Jojoba Oil.

Does the conditioner weigh down my hair ie will my hair feel heavy after using conditioner?

No, Sensenique Natural conditioner does not weigh down your hair. It has a light and ultra-nourishing texture. It softens hair instantly and leaving hair more manageable.

Overtime, this also allows your skin to produce its own natural oil. Consistent usage will result in healthy skin.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin and problem skin like overly dry skin, eczema, skin irritation, red and itchy skin?

Yes, it is suitable for sensitive and problem skin. We use safe, toxin-free natural ingredients and gentle surfactants in our body wash. Best to try on small patch of skin. If no adverse reactions, then continue to use.
